Kinesiotaping
Amazing taping therapy to eliminate pain and muscle disorders
Kinesiotape is an elastic tape that is wrapped around the muscles. By combining the motion of the muscles and the stretch component of the tape, kinesiotaping enhances the natural healing power of the body. This therapy originated in Japan and the results are incredible.
The Monday morning after a weekend seminar on this taping technique, I (Martha Linn, D.C.) had a new patient with an extreme hamstring pull. I placed one piece of tape on his hamstring and the next day he walked in without a limp! The whole scenario of a hamstring tear to recovery was cut down to a week versus what I had experienced in the past which was a long and frustrating six weeks.
The four major benefits of using Kinesiotape are:
1. Correct Muscle Function
The tape reconditions the abnormal muscle tension, or strengthens the weakened muscle. It is also effective for muscle fatigue and cramps.
2. Improved Circulation of Blood and Lymph
The tape eliminates the tissue fluid of bleeding beneath the skin by moving the muscle.
3. Reduced Pain
Neurological suppression of pain occurs by applying the tape to the affected area.
4. Repositioning of a Subluxated Joint
A dislocated joint due to abnormal muscle tension can be corrected by taping to recover the function of the fascia and muscle.
Kinesiotape can be used for various pains and disorders, as a preventative measure for injury and for rehabilitation. Taping will support muscles before and after exercise and prolonged walking. For athletes, it is possible to treat the joint while protecting it by using Kinesiotape in conjunction with conventional sports taping.
